Tikkun in All Four Worlds

Isabella Freedman Retreat Center in Connecticut
August 9-15, 2010

With Ida Unger, Estelle Frankel, Moshe Aharon (Miles) Krassen, Shaya Isenberg and Bahira Sugarman. From the Isabella Freedman website:

Rabbi Wikipedia teaches: "The phrase ‘Think Globally, Act Locally’... has been used in various contexts, including town planning, environment and business." What would it mean to think globally and act locally in the realm of tikkun olam?

As we engage in tikkun—healing ourselves, healing our world—we need to go beyond one world into multiple worlds: body-earth, heart-water, mind-air, spirit-power/fire. This workshop offers a unique format for exploring all four of these worlds, and how they work together.

During the week, you will have opportunities for deep learning as you trace one element through all four worlds with one teacher in the mornings, and then in the afternoons experience the teachings of all four teachers as they trace the progress of tikkun across worlds and elements.

How to See God as Everything and Remain Sane

Isabella Freedman Retreat Center in Connecticut
August 10 - 16, 2009

The great consolation of the Torah in the Book of Deuteronomy is offered in the verse: "It has been made evident to you how to know that there is nothing but YHVH."

What do we need to know in order to see the world and all that it entails as nothing other than the Ultimate Reality? We will examine the concepts of self, world and God that may presently impede our recognition of this ultimately consoling view. Drawing on wisdom from Hasidic and kabbalistic sources, we will encounter a saner understanding of who we are and for what purpose we are here.

Reb Miles at Am Kolel Sanctuary

Am Kolel Sanctuary and Renewal Center in Beallsville, MD
August 21st-23rd, 2009

On the weekend of August 21st-23rd, Reb Miles will be offering teachings and practices from the Hasidic tradition concerning the month of Elul. Jewish tradition views this month as preparation for the Teshuvah work that culminates in Yom Kippur. This year, Elul begins on Erev Shabbat, August 21st. Reb Miles will be sharing teachings on the essential nature of Teshuvah (rebooting and restoring our soul’s operating system), as understood in Hasidic and kabbalist tradition. We will be studying teachings from Rebbe Nachman of Breslov, his main disciple, Rabbi Nathan of Nemirov, and from Hasidism’s founder, the Ba’al Shem Tov. Teachings will be supported by specific practices to facilitate the Teshuvah practice and prepare us for Rosh HaShanah.
